On October 21, 2022 the Law Enforcement Community Engagement Committee (LECEC) of Hancock County, Maine, hosted this presentation and discussion with Chief Noel March, Lecturer of Justice Studies, and Director-Maine Community Policing Institute at UMaine Augusta. This broad-ranging discussion covered community policing, law enforcement funding and staffing, and community concerns regarding incarceration and alternatives to standard policing for addressing substance use and other mental health issues, as well as other social issues for which calls are frequently made to law enforcement. One edit was done in the recording in order to preserve confidentiality.

May 13, 2022 - LECEC and NextStep Domestic Violence Project, with Dorathy Martel

On April 15, 2022 the Law Enforcement Community Engagement Committee of Hancock County, Maine was joined on by presenters Capt. Tim Richardson, Hancock County Jail Administrator, and Perry Gates, Chair of the Maine State Prison Board of Visitors, to talk about structure and functions of Boards of Visitors. A question and answer period followed their presentations.

March 18, 2022 - Hosted by the Law Enforcement Community Engagement Committee of Hancock County, via zoom. Waldo County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Jason Trundy and Community Liaison Rob Porter discuss development, funding, and operations of the "Community Liaison" and "Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion pilot" programs of the Waldo County, Maine Sheriff's Department. These programs provide avenues for non-law enforcement professionals to assist officers with calls involving substance use disorder and mental health, as well as with calls related to social issues and conflicts that do not involve violation of laws.
